Curbside Recycling, Drop Off Center & Business Recycling

Curbside Recycling FAQs

What items can be recycled curbside in the new blue bag program?
Glass (all colors)
Aluminum Cans/Aluminum Foil
Steel/Tin Cans
Clean Mixed Paper including envelopes, junk mail, all white or colored office paper, newspaper, magazines and paper bags.
Corrugated Cardboard flatten/cut into smaller pieces - it must fit in the blue bag.
NO wax coated or food stained boxes such as pizza boxes.
Paperboard including food packaging such as cereal boxes, soda boxes, paper towel rolls and egg cartons.
Please remove liners from boxes.
NO used paper plates or coffee cups.
Rigid Plastics Laundry baskets, snow toys, etc. - must fit in the blue bag.

Plastics #1 through # 7 All shapes and sizes with symbols 1-7 on the bottom of the package
     
*NO plastic bags or plastic film                                  
*NO Styrofoam please – #6 plastics are OK.
 Note: Plastic grocery bags can be recycled at Raley’s.

Where do I buy Blue Bags in Incline?
Heavy-duty, extra-large, contractor grade blue bags are available at:

Packages of smaller, thinner (lighter use) blue bags are available at:

What do I do with my crates?
You may use your yellow & green recycling crates  until September 1. After Sept. 1, crates will not be serviced, only blue bags. The crates will be collected for reuse in other communities. Simply place them EMPTY on the curb, alongside your blue bag recycling, or drop them off at the Incline Transfer Station.

Do I need to sort everything?
No. Please remove all liquids, rinse food containers, and flatten or break down bulky items. All items, including cardboard, must fit inside the blue bag.

How much can I recycle?
There is no limit on the number of blue bags you place out for collection. Please do not put more than 50 pounds of material in each blue bag.

How do I recycle if I live in a condo complex or work at a small business?
*96-gallon recycling totes are available for use at commercial properties. Ask your property management company to provide recycling on-site. WASTE NOT can offer assistance in getting recycling to your business or residential facility.  There will be a blue bag drop-off at the Incline Transfer Station.

How do I recycle cardboard?
Cardboard and paperboard may be places in a blue bag. If you have large amounts, you can drop it off at the Waste Management transfer station during regular business hours.

When is my next recycling pick up day?
Residential recycling is picked up every other week with you regular trash service.  Your date depends on location, for the exact date please call Waste Management at (775) 831-2971.

If I miss my pick up, where can I drop off?
Go to the Incline Transfer Station. It is open 8:30-4:30 Monday through Friday and 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on weekends, located at 1076 Tahoe Blvd., Incline Village, NV 89451. The phone number is (775) 831-2971. 

Accepted items include:
Blue bag recycling plus, cardboard drop-off, plus motor oil, antifreeze, car batteries (small fee), appliances (fee).  Additionally, each week you can bring up to two bags of trash for free.  So, on your way out of town, don't forget WASTE NOT!

Waste Management Recycling Drop-Off Center

The Drop-Off Center open from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm Monday through Friday and 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on weekends. It is located at 1076 Tahoe Blvd., Incline Village, NV 89451. The phone number is (775) 831-2971. 

Accepted items include:
Paper, newspaper, aluminum cans, telephone books, all colors of glass, oil, antifreeze, car batteries (small fee), appliances (fee).  Additionally, each week you can bring up to two bags of trash for free.  So, on your way out of town, don't forget to WASTE NOT!

Waste Management Business Recycling

Incline Village commercial customers and Home Owner Associations with dumpster service are automatically issued one 96-gallon tote for weekly recycling service under the new program. Customers may reduce their trash service by ordering additional recycling carts. Click here for the flyer.
